Sello Dhlabo is a Johannesburg-based documentary photographer who photographs people who work with their hands, from the makers,
and menders of South Africa's circular economy to the traders who live and work at Tanzania's bus stands. His ongoing series Between Departures documents the vendors who sell in the spaces where journeys begin and end.
His purpose is simple: to dignify labour and make visible the skill behind it.
 

His solo exhibition The Forgotten People
was shown at the South African State Theatre
in 2022, and his work has appeared in group exhibitions at The Art Room and Centurion
Art Gallery.

He has been commissioned by the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation and ArtBank SA, and was interviewed on SA FM's The Art of Everything. Trained in graphic design, he brings a designer's eye for composition to his work. He is the author of Dunusa: Stories in a Thread (2025).
